Michinoku Onikoroshi is brewed in Miyagi Prefecture in the Tohoku region.
In 1620, Date Masamune, daimyo in Miyagi Prefecture ordered Oribe Uchigasaki to build a town on the road to Aomori. In 1661, Oribe’s son, Sakuemon, founded the Unigasaki Sake Brewery. They never stopped brewing sake for over 300 years since then. To this day, they continue to keep the tradition and protect the time-consuming craftmanship used by the Southern master brewers. Waking up very early every day for cold temperatures of the region to make good sake. It is one of the oldest sake breweries in Japan.
