Mizubasho is brewed in Gunma Prefecture in the Kanto region.
The northernmost part of Gunma prefecture touches Oze national park, the most beautiful high-altitude marshlands in Japan. The snow and rain slowly filter through the highlands, taking decades and decades and reaches and springs at Kawaba, a small village with a little over 3000 in population. the water contains a lot of minerals rich body and subtle sweetness. Back in 1886, Shoji Nagai first fell in love with the quality of water there and started brewing sake purchasing woods along the river to preserve the nature and quality of the water for preparation. Their motto is to combine nature, culture and history of Kawaba village, passing down the philosophy and skills from the ancestors, which they call NAGANO style.
