Yamagata prefecture’s Kamenoi Brewing Company was founded in 1875. The brewery focuses on crafting ginjo sake — a grade of sake whose rice is polished to at least 60%. Kamenoi is best known for its Kudoki Jozu brand, which is instantly recognizable by the woman with jet-black hair and ruby-red lips on the label. “Kudoki Jozu” means sweet talker, and reflects the brand’s sweet, fruity and expressive style. It also represents the brewery’s desire to communicate their passion through their sake. They hope they can reach drinkers’ hearts and build a trusting relationship based on quality and authenticity.
