As playful as a seal pup

A seasonal hiyaoroshi sake, which means it’s brewed with matured rice from last fall. This maturation helps develop flavor and aroma. Like the playful seals on the bottle, this sake is light and makes us happy! The calming aroma of rice blends with hints of fruit. On the palate is a mix of creamy and savory flavor with enlivening acidity and just a touch of playful nuttiness.

Otokoyama

Hokkaido

With a history spanning over 340 years, this brewerys sake was a favorite of the Tokugawa shogunate. It was so popular with people in Edo, it was even depicted in works by one of Japan’s most famous “Ukiyoe” painting masters, Utamaro. Brewed in Hokkaido, the northernmost island in Japan, Otokoyama uses water from Mount Daisetsu, literally meaning “lots of snow.” The ice water along with crisp cold air in harsh climate of Hokkaido translates into the dry and sharp taste of sake.
