Shichida is brewed in Saga Prefecture in the Kyushu region.
Around the time when Japan was starting to trade for the first time with US in the late 1800, Toshizo and Tsuki Shichida started their rice-milling business. When a neighboring Sake brewery went bankrupt and asked them to buy the equipment, the Shichidas were too nice to say "no" and that's the beginning of this prestigious brewery. Their passion for quality lead to establishing local university specializing in agriculture, developing a rare type of rice "Omachi" at the time. Tenzan takes pride in their attitude towards the rice they use and communicates closely with contracted farmers several times a year.
