Handmade with heart

These wooden boxes have been around for 1300 years and have a long history in Japan as a measurement of rice and also as serving vessels for sake. This one is large enough to use as a carafe or small bottle chiller when filled with ice. Crafted with heart, the “hinoki” (Japanese cypress) is soft to the touch but leak proof, and becomes gives off aromatic when wet.
