Working hard with Umami-chan

“Maekake,” coming from the words “mae” (front) and “kakeru” (to hang), is a traditional apron used for centuries in Japan. They came to be used by brewery workers during the Edo period (1603-1868), and were developed to support the workers’ hips and posture. This dark red apron from Kamikokoro Brewing Company features a convenient pocket, and bears the brewery logo as well as the company’s beloved, rice-shaped character, Komeno Umami-chan!
