Okunomatsu is brewed in Fukushima Prefecture in the Tohoku region.
In Fukushima with 300 years of experience, Okunomatsu has been brewing high quality sake using water from melted snow in Mt Adatara, winning a gold medal annual national sake appraisal in nine years in a row. The tradition and challenge for innovation dates back to the beginning of Edo period, the spirit of the founder from a samurai family and his passion of high-quality sake brewing has been passed down from generation to generation. Mt Adatara provides clean water from melted snow.
